Deadlift, Jump and Row – Results Fitness

Virtuosity “performing the common uncommonly well”

Whether you’re a personal trainer from Coquitlam, an Olympic coach or novice beginner, i’m sure you’ll appreciate this article written by Gregg Glass, founder of Crossfit.

He speaks of the tendency of novices who are developing any skill, weather it be sport, music or art, to want to move through the fundamentals as quickly as possible, to more elaborate skills.

He stresses that in order to truly master coaching and personal training we must strive for virtuosity in the fundamental movements of our athletes. We must enforce our athletes to perfect the basics and reward them for doing so.

Stay clear of trying to impress clients with gizmos, gadgets and “super” exercises.

Demand virtuosity for a fundamental movement like squatting and you’re athletes will never bore, never complain, and will always progress.

It’s a must read for any coach!
